LONDON - Brand Republic rounds up the week's major people moves in advertising, digital, marketing and media with Media Brands' Graham Duff and the 'M' in HMDG's Al Moseley stepping down as Google's Bruce Daisley and Virgin Media's Neil Berkett step up.

Miguel-Angel Furones, Leo Burnett's former worldwide chief creative officer, has been named as the head of Publicis' operation in Spain. His hiring renews his association with Richard Pinder, the Publicis Worldwide chief operating officer and former EMEA president at Leo Burnett. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Campbell Lace Beta, the start-up launched by Robert Campbell and Garry Lace in May, has appointed Malcolm Green as a partner and has rebranded simply as Beta. Al Moseley, the partner and executive creative director at Hurrell Moseley Dawson & Grimmer, has quit to join 180 Amsterdam. He will form part of a new management line-up that also includes Kevin Dundas, the president and chief executive at Nitro Sapient in London, who has been hired as the managing partner. Campbell Lace Beta has appointed , a former chief executive of Prudential and AXA, as chairman. Wood is the agency start-up's first chairman following its launch in May by former Lowe London chief executive Garry Lace and Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe founder Robert Campbell. ()

Research consultancy Nunwood has hired , who ran Accenture's international Marketing Sciences division for seven years, as chief strategy and development officer. Nunwood has brought Walker in as it plots expansion into Europe, Asia-Pacific and the West Coast of the US. ()

Media Square, owner of agencies Holmes & Marchant and The Gate, has promoted to chief executive and said that current chairman and CEO Roger Parry will become non-executive chairman starting in 2010. Reid is promoted to the role from his position as group development director. He becomes chief executive in January but takes a role on the board forthwith. ()

Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw has hired creative team and from digital agency Tribal DDB. At Tribal, art director Hall and copywriter Phillips produced work for clients such as The Guardian, VW, Philips and Guinness. ()

Digital

I-Level has appointed to the new role of head of planning. Fulford joins the digital media agency from Tullo Marshall Warren, where he was group planning and intelligence director. ()

The Association of Online Publishers has appointed FT.com's head of product management, , as chairman of a newly formed product development committee. The AOP Product Development Committee will help publishers maximise their digital investments. ()

Google's agency leader has been promoted to the position of leader for YouTube and display. He fills a role previously occupied by Jonathan Gillespie, who left Google in January to become commercial director at GMG Radio, reporting to Google's director of UK sales Mark Howe. ()

SeeSaw, Arqiva's video-on-demand service, has appointed as its commercial director. Rennie is currently Channel 4's business development manager of content distribution. ()

The Rubicon Project has hired and from Fox Interactive Media to manage ad network development in the UK and EMEA respectively. The pair's arrival marks the latest expansion for the European arm of the US-headquarted ad optimisation company. ()

Marketing

Skoda's head of marketing, , has been moved into a non-marketing role at the marque's parent Volkswagen Group. Newcombe has been given the position of head of learning services, where she will be responsible for training across dealership networks. ()

Publicis Dialog has expanded its planning department with four new hires covering strategic and data planning, to work on clients including Renault, RBS, Zurich, Visa and LG. Strategic planner joins from Targetbase Claydon Heeley to work initially on the Renault account.

has been appointed project lead on the global RBS customer relationship management programme. On the data planning side, database developer joins Publicis Dialog from Pelagon to lead database design on the agency's RBS and LG CRM programmes. Finally, joins from Cambridge University as a graduate trainee planner after gaining a BA (Hons) History degree. ()

Media

, president of Mediabrands EMEA, is stepping down from his regional group role where he is responsible for Initiative and Universal McCann, at the end of the month. Duff, who joined the group as EMEA president of Universal McCann in February 2006, is not believed to have a new job to go to and it is not known if he will be directly replaced. ()

Guardian Media Group has appointed Virgin Media's chief executive, , as a non-executive director. Berkett joined ntl, Virgin Media's predecessor, as chief operating officer in September 2005 and was appointed chief executive of Virgin Media in March 2008. ()

, chief executive of Asia-Pacific for WPP's out-of-home agency Kinetic, is to return to London to take up the new role of global head of business development as part of ongoing changes at the agency. , currently business development director in the UK, has been promoted to the post of chief executive of Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong. ()

, investment director of press, radio and outdoor at MediaVest, has left the Publicis agency on a seven-month sabbatical. Whitnall will not be replaced in the interim and some of his duties will be consumed by the four associate directors in his team who look after press, radio and outdoor activity at the agency. ()

John Brown Media, the customer publisher, has made two key appointments. The company has appointed , a strategist at The Guardian, to the vacant role of commercial director. The position has been vacant for a year following the departure of Carlina Anderson. Additionally, joins as ad director across Sense magazine and the RBS titles. ()

Jazz FM has appointed , the network brand controller for Guardian Media Group's Smooth Radio, as its first head of sales. Garrett will work with Jazz FM's national sales house, First Radio Sales, its regional sales house TCP, its online sales house OTP Media and Karen Morris, who manages sponsorship internally. ()

Independent Newspapers' head of creative solutions, , is to leave the group to take up a commercial role with United Business Media. O'Connor has been with the publisher of The Independent and The Independent on Sunday for about eight years, where his roles have included group head of travel and advertising manager across the group's classified division. ()

Frontline Limited, the magazine distribution company, has appointed as managing director. Frontline, owned by BBC Worldwide, Bauer Media and Brand Republic owner, Haymarket Media Group, was formed in June 1986. ()

, the general manager of Taxi Media, the taxi outdoor ad company sold by Clear Channel Outdoor in April this year, has left the company to pursue other interests and will not be replaced. Asher Moses, chief executive of Taxi Media, will now take charge of the 12-strong sales operation, which has relocated to Oxford Circus. ()

Ofcom has appointed as Channel 4 chairman. The search for Luke Johnson's successor began in August. Burns will leave his post as chairman of Santander-owned bank Abbey. His first task will be to find a chief executive to replace Andy Duncan. ()

, chief executive of Reed Elsevier, publisher of magazines including New Scientist and Variety, has resigned "by mutual agreement" less than a year after taking the job. In a statement released this morning, the company said he would be replaced with immediate effect by Erik Engstrom, currently chief executive of Elsevier, who joined the company in 2004. ()
