Burgess, who has already left Unique Digital after five years, is to replace Ben Wood, who left in June to become managing director of Aegis Media's digital agency Diffiniti.
Final negotiations are still under way between TradeDoubler and Burgess. TradeDoubler declined to comment.
As managing director, Burgess will oversee TradeDoubler and its search company, The Search Works. He will work alongside The Search Works' managing director Gavin Ailes, who was promoted from deputy managing director last month following the departure of Stephanie Carr, after three years at the helm, to pursue other opportunities.
