Toyota pranks passersby in Aygo online campaign

Toyota has created an online film that pranks passersby, as part of its 'Go Fun Yourself' campaign for the Aygo model.

In the ad by Saatchi & Saatchi London, four comedians hide in a Toyota Aygo and improvise songs about the people they see passing a spot, marked by a large X, near Spitalfields Market in East London.

The work features musical comedians Tom Livingston, Tom Houghton, Dylan Townley and Chris Turner, who persuade passersbys to complete tasks, such as romantically share a sausage roll.

The copywriter was Gemma Phillips and the art director was Mark Slack. Sam Wrench directed the film through Pulse Films. The media planning and buying is by ZenithOptimedia.

Toyota will run the film on its social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Toyota YouTube. A shortened version of the ad will run as a pre-roll on Vevo.

Jemma Shaw, a marketing communications specialist at Toyota GB, said: "X marks the spot has really brought to life the attitude of the Aygo in a fun and engaging way.

"This is a great continuation of the ‘Go Fun Yourself’ campaign launched in July and will form part of our always-on social and digital content plan throughout the year."

Toyota will launch further films featuring pranks and comedians on its social channels later in the year.
