The sports , which primarily attracts users supporting teams in the English and Spanish league's top flight divisions La Liga and the Premier League, has around 250,000 registered members and will allow TMNmedia to add personal details from around 70,000 of its users to the company's 10m strong database.
TMNmedia said the information, which is received via an opt-in process, covers male football fans aged between 16 and 35 who are likely to buy team merchandise from Europe's most supported clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool FC, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal.
The company said the information would be sold to TMNmedia's list of data buying clients, which includes Sky, T-Mobile and British Gas, and be used to sell ad space on Icon.com's 180,000-strong newsletters.
Gavin Male, director of TMNmedia, said: "Icons will benefit from top-tier advice and campaign management to maximise revenues while ensuring all communications to its database are relevant, regulated and responsive."
