Telegraph relaunches blogs and names Thompson section editor

LONDON - Telegraph.co.uk has relaunched its blogs on the WordPress platform and appointed Damian Thompson, leader writer for The Daily Telegraph, as blogs editor.

Thompson, who is also the author of a popular blog about religion, will work closely with community editor Shane Richmond.

Thompson said: "The new Telegraph blog pages are faster, more elegant and far better integrated into the rest of Telegraph.co.uk.

"We are signing up some compulsively readable new bloggers and introducing the latest blogging and video software.

"Overall, the emphasis is on fewer, sharper bloggers. The next few months will be very exciting for us and our readers."

As part of the relaunch, Andrew Keen, the controversial author of 'The Cult of the Amateur' will begin writing a technology blog, and Geoffrey Lean, the Telegraph's new consulting editor, will start an environment blog.

The Telegraph's other bloggers include Benedict Brogan, the Daily Telegraph's chief political commentator and Stephen Hough, the international concert pianist.
