Telegraph launches fantasy horseracing game

LONDON - Telegraph Media Group and TV channel Racing UK have teamed up to launch a fantasy horseracing game online to tie in with the National Hunt season.

The game launches today on and , with scoring starting with the new season on November 15.

The game, developed by CleverTV, requires players to choose eight horses, two jockeys and two trainers to create their fantasy stable and compete for a £25,000 prize fund with the overall winner receiving £15,000.

Stables will be awarded points for horses being placed in races throughout the National Hunt season and weekly bonus races will increase competition by allowing players to win extra points by strategically choosing their stable.

Players have 30 transfers with which to substitute horses, trainers or jockeys throughout the duration of the game, in case of injuries or loss of form.

Marcus Armytage, racing correspondent for The Daily Telegraph, and all Racing UK presenters including Peter Naughton, Oli Bell and Richard Hoiles, will be among the first entrants to select their stables.

They will explain the reasoning behind their picks through features in The Daily Telegraph and on Racing UK as well as each of their respective websites.

Nick Mills, commercial director at Racing UK, said: "This is a great opportunity for us to take horseracing to a wider audience and to extend Racing UK's position as the channel of choice for racing fans throughout the country."

Steve Stiles, interactive sport manager at TMG, said: "We have already enjoyed great success with our fantasy football and cricket games and are excited to be adding horseracing to our fantasy games portfolio. This game will serve to enhance the Telegraph racing offering to our millions of readers and online users."
