TechCrunch is bought by AOL for up to $30m

AOL has bought technology news blog TechCrunch, founded five years ago by Michael Arrington, for between $25m and $30m.

The acquisition is part of AOL CEO Tim Armstrong's plans to transform the internet firm into a content led business.

TechCrunch is one of the world's biggest blogs and will join AOL's growing list of technology and life-style blogging properties that also includes Engadet and Politicsdaily.com.
