Sunday's Coronation Street lesbian kiss wins 6.7m viewers for ITV1

LONDON - Sunday night's 'Coronation Street' was a TV ratings grabber last night as 6.7m viewers tuned in to watch the climax of the soap's first lesbian storyline, according to unofficial overnight figures.

‘Coronation Street' won 6.7 million viewers and a 27.3% share between 7.45pm and 8.15pm on Sunday, up against BBC One's ‘Antiques Roadshow' with 5.6 million viewers and a 17.2% share in its 7.15pm to 8.15pm slot.

‘Dr Who' scored 6.7 millon viewers on Saturday at 6.15-7pm taking a 34% audience share, beating ITV1's coverage of Aston Villa v Chelsea FA Cup match, which brought in just under 5 million viewers in the same slot. 

The simulcast of 'Dr Who' on BBC HD was watched by 329,000 viewers for a 1.67% audience share.

ITV1's showing of ‘Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix' after the football drew 5.7m (25.7%).

‘Over the Rainbow,' BBC One's talent contest to find the next Dorothy for Andrew Lloyd Webber's ‘Wizard of Oz', brought in 5.5 million viewers, a 26% share between 7pm and 8.15pm. The results show was watched by 4.5 million at 8.15-9pm on Sunday, a 17.2% share.
