Joanna Lumley's Nile scores 4.7 million viewers for ITV1

LONDON - The second part of 'Joanna Lumley's Nile' on ITV1 beat 'New Tricks' on BBC One in the battle for ratings last night, according to unofficial figures.

Although the documentary saw off competition from BBC One, audiences were down by 100,000 from its first episode last Monday. 'Joanna Lumley's Nile' had 4.7 million viewers, 19.1% of the audience share, against 'New Tricks' with four million, managing 16.5% of the audience share between 9pm and 10pm.

Four-part documentary series 'Blitz Street', presented by Tony Robinson on Channel 4, drew in 1.7 million viewers and 6.9% of overall audience share.

'Out of the Pan' on BBC Two equalled its viewing figures from last week of 1.2 million, a 4.7% share, although it was the least watched of the terrestrial channels, pipped by Five's US import 'FlashForward', with 1.5 million viewers and 6.3% of audience share.
