Police documentary Traffic Cops leaves The Bill in the dust

LONDON - BBC1's 'Traffic Cops' was watched by 4.2 million viewers, casting a shadow over ITV1's audience of 2.9 million for 'The Bill: Paying the Price,' according to unofficial overnight figures.

'Traffic Cops' earned the BBC an audience of 4.2 million, which was a 17.3% audience share in the 9pm-10pm slot, drawing viewers away from ITV1's serial drama police drama 'The Bill,' which had 2.9 million viewers and a 12% share.

The remaining terrestrial channels saw differences of no more than 100,000 viewers between each station during the same time slot.

Culinary alchemist Heston Blumenthal sailed into third place with 'Heston's Titanic Feast' earning 2.4 million viewers, a 9.7% share, closely followed by BBC2's documentary 'Great Ormond Street' with 2.3 million, a 9.5% share.

'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' had 2.2 million viewers and a 9% share.

BBC HD fared considerably better than Monday night. 'Not Going Out' had 11,000 viewers between 9pm and 9.30pm, 0.04% of audience share, and comedy 'That Mitchell and Webb Look' from 9.30pm and 10pm had 16,000 viewers, 0.07% share.
