Story Worldwide merges with US agency Byte Interactive

LONDON - Story Worldwide, the customer publisher with global clients including Microsoft, has merged with US digital agency Byte Interactive.

The combined agency, which will be known as Story Worldwide, will employ more than 160 full-time staff, adding Byte's Connecticut office to Story's network of London, New York and Seattle.

The addition of Byte, which works for Unilever and Coty among others, to Story, which has a client list including Lexus and UPS, gives the agency billings of more than $30m (£15.3m) this year.

Byte was founded in 1997 by Michael LeBeau, who becomes chief marketing officer of Story Worldwide. Story was formed in July 2005 through a management buyout of the former customer publishing division of Interpublic Group.

LeBeau said the merger laid the foundation for a "new breed of agency", a comment backed up by Kirk Cheyfitz, CEO of Story Worldwide.

Cheyfitz said: "[This] creates the world's first media and marketing services company with equal expertise in marketing strategy, interactive development and content creation."

Jon King, London managing director of Story Worldwide, said: "Our modest goal is to change the face of the advertising and marketing industry worldwide."
