LONDON - Helene Barnekow, VP marketing in Sony Ericsson's global marketing team, is leaving the business at the end of the month to become VP of marketing, EMEA for IT company EMC.

Sony Ericsson marketer Helene Barnekow joins EMC

Barnekow has been at the company since 2001 and was promoted from a Latin American marketing role to take on a central marketing role based in the UK for its mobile products in 2007.

Sony Ericsson will replace Barnekow with Andre Jacquet, the company's general manager for Italy.

The mobile manufacturer's senior marketing team, under global head of marketing Lennard Hoornik, has remained in place despite an announced 4,000 redundancies.

Under Hoornik, Sony Ericsson has shifted its strategy from regional to centralised marketing, with marketing teams more closely aligned as ‘horizontal' global ‘centres of excellence'.
