Somerset House will keep its Courtauld Gallery open for event hire despite acting as the Brazilian Olympic House during the Games this summer.

Organisers can hire the art gallery for corporate and private events while the venue acts as the base for Brazillian National Olympic Committee officials.

As Casa Brazil, Somerset House will It will be presenting a cultural events programme to showcase the country before it holds the Games in Rio 2016.

The Courtauld Gallery can hold up to 200 people standing or 50 guests for dinner, surrounded by the fine art collection which includes works by Van Gogh and Manet.

Emma Barrow, head of events at Somerset House said: "We’re very pleased to be able to offer event organisers the opportunity to host events during the Olympics in a truly unique space perfect for secret meetings or an elegant event."

"Throughout the year the gallery hosts an acclaimed programme of temporary exhibitions and guests really appreciate the opportunity to view the galleries privately when attending an event here."
