Event's guide to NOC Houses this summer

If you don't have a ticket to the Olympic Park you can still get into the Games spirit by visiting some of the National Olympic Committee Houses that are being run in a variety of event venues. Here Event picks the best NOC Houses to visit.

Africa

Name of experience: Africa Village

Where? Africa Village, Kensington Gardens, W2 2UH

What is the happening? Modern and traditional music concerts, fashion, dancing, photo exhibitions, and a restaurant. There will also be Nigerian musicians, Tunisian singers, Moroccan bands and a famous Senegalese artist.

Austria

Name of experience: Austria House

Where? Trinity house, Trinity square, tower hill, corporation of London, EC3N 4DH

What is happening? A number of celebrations will be taking place including the Tirol snow day and après ski partyon 29 July. There are also several competitions to win skiing & summer holidays to Austria.

Belgium

What is the experience: Belgian House

What is happening? The Belgian royal family will be making an appearance, and guests will also be given the chance to meet athletes in the venue that houses a three acre garden.

Brazil

Name of experience: Casa Brazil

When? 21 July-8 September

What is the happening? Filled with Brazilian culture it will host a contemporary art and design exhibition titled 'From the Margin to the Edge' celebrating the work of 33 artists and designers. It will also host a number of Brazillan-styled parties and a Brazillan film festival featuing 12 feature films and 20 short movies.

Czech Republic

Name of the experience: Czech House

Where? Business design centre, 52 upper street, Islington, London, N10QH

What is the happening? The Czech house has a converted London bus with arms doing press-ups and playing music in the forecourt of its venue, the Business Design Centre. The house will also host live music from high-profile Czech bands, such as Business, Charlie Straight and Toxique. Czech athletes including Ondrej Synek and Bárbora Špotáková are expected to visit the house, while footballers Petr Cech and Tomáš Rosický will pop in.

Denmark

Name of experience: Denmark House, Imagine Denmark

Where? St Katharine Docks, Tower Bridge Approach, Tower Hamlets, St Katharine way, London E1W 1TW

What is happening? Based on an authentic Viking ship this experience will offer guests the opportunity to explore the latest in Danish fashion and design. There will also be plenty of food and drink on offer, with demonstrations from a few of the countries top chefs.

France

Name of experience: France House

What is the event? Old Billingsgate will host the French Olympic team, as well as live broadcasting and interviews. There will be French pop-up restaurants, shops, and guests will get the chance to get close to the country's medalists.

Germany

Name of experience: German House

Where? Museum of London Docklands, West India Quay, London, E14 4AL

What is happening? The ‘fan fest’ at the house is expected to attract 1,500 German and international visitors. It will provide viewing areas where visitors can watch the Games, alongside German food and drink and live music every night. In the evening it will become a party venue until 1am, and there will be a £10 entry fee after 5pm.

What is the experience? Nightly events including calypso performances, poetry, dance, a dominoes tournament and a photographic exhibition.  w

Holland

Name of experience: Holland Heineken House

Where? Alexandra Palace Alexandra Palace Way, N22 7AY

What is happening? Holland’s Olympic base will include a large hall where the medal ceremonies for Dutch athletes will be held. It will also boast its own athletics area allowing guests to take part in a number of sports, or alternatively visit a number of shops, cafes and restaurants representing the nation. It will also host reception rooms for sponsors, athlete and media facilities.

Ireland

Name of experience: Ireland House

What is the experience? Live music, comedy and performances from famous Irish artistes and ambassadors including Barry McGuigan and Sonia O'Sullivan.

Italy

What is hapening? There will be an exhibition featuring some of Italy’s most popular produce including food and wine and a performance centre for Italian artists

Jamaica

Name of experience: Jamaica House

What is the happening? The 02 will provide a range of entertainment for guests of the nation and will be hoping to celebrate the victories of its top athletes including Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt in the sprints

Kenya

Name of experience: Kenya House

What is happening? This is Kenya's first Olympic house and guests can experience various aspects of Kenyan culture, including sports, tourism, exports, investment opportunities, arts and heritage. There are a host of special events planned covering topics from fashion to sport.

Latin America

Name of experience: Alba House

Where? Bolivar Hall, 54 Grafton way, London, WIT 5DL

What is the happening? The embassies of Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela have come together to create a cultural house that will feature Bolivar halls’ very own dance group presenting dancing directed and choreographed by Doni Fierro.

New Zealand

Name of experience: Kiwi House

Where? Kiwi House, 1 Granary Square, Greater London, N1 1FA, UK

What is the happening? Kiwi House will take over the building's Lethaby Gallery and a 100sqm outside space where a New Zealand-style barbeque will be served. It will be open to the public as well as athletes and officials from the New Zealand Olympic Committee.The event programme will be run by Lily and Piper, a London-based events agency that is les than a year old and secured the venue three weeks ago.

Poland

Name of experience: Poland House

What is happening? Olympic sporting events with Polish competitors will be broadcast daily and a series of exhibitions will showcase Polish culture. The art exhibitions will include a History of 124 Years of Polish Sport Movement from the Polish Olympic Committee and winning works from the Sport in Arts competition run by the Society of Polish Olympic Games Participants and Polish Olympic Committee.

Qatar

Name of experience: Qatar House

What is happening? Committee members, athletes and media will be offered the chance to experience Qatari hospitality, Al Jazeera sport, Qatar Museums Authority, Doha film institute and Qatar tourism Authority. Guests will also experience local food, music, performances, art and culture.

Russia

Name of experience: Russia.Sochi.Park

Where? Kensington Gardens, London, W2 2UH

What is happening? An array of Russian cultural experiences including picnic zones, performance spaces, sport activities, pavilions and exhibitions. Russian music, dance, traditional folk craft, and samples of traditional cuisine will be available in open air galleries and performance spaces.

South Africa

Name of experience: South Africa House

Where? Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road  London SE1 8XX

What is happening? A big screen will be showing highlights from the Games. The house will also stage three large music and comedy concerts, a meet-and-greet with South African athletes, a mini film festival and a fashion show.

South Pacific

Name of experience: South Pacific House

Where?  St Katherine's Dock, London, E1W 1LA

What is happening? Expect palm trees, grass skirts and warrior dances at South Pacific House as the tourist boards of Fiji, Vanuatu, Samoa and Papua New Guinea transform a large pontoon moored in the docks into a tropical South Pacific island.

Switzerland

Name of experience: Swiss house

Where? Glaziers Hall, 9 Montague Close, London Bridge, SE1 9DD

What is the happening? It is offering free live music and film, family activities, three restaurants, public viewing screens, Swiss medal celebrations and a private Athletes Lounge. From 4-5 August it will hold the Bernese Games, celebrating traditional Swiss sports including folk wrestling and cheese rolling.

USA

Name of experience: USA House

Where? Royal college of Art, Kensington Gore, South Kensington SW7 2EU

What is happening? It comprise of a combination of team staff offices, hospitality centre and provide an opportunity for American athletes and officials to mix in a social atmosphere. The venue will feature a Budweiser Bar and a McDonalds coffee bar. Sponsors from BMW, Nike and Kellogs are also expected to host guests there.
