The company has been tasked to deliver the technical production and event management for the forum, which takes place at London's Excel between 29 and 31 October, and aims to develop international business networks. It is the first time the event has been hosted in London.
The WIEF expects to see more than 1,500 delegates attend the three-day event, which is considered the business gateway for the Muslim and non-Muslim world.
Rick Stainton, managing director of Smyle, told Event the forum is a prestigious addition to company’s portfolio, explaining that the pitch process lasted more than a year.
"We put a lot of work into developing our pitch and building relationships with WIEF. We also brought in people like David Hornby – our strategic director – to support us with the development of our concept," said Stainton.
Matt Margetson, creative director at Smyle, added: "The event capitalises on all the in-house departments at Smyle ensuring continuity of the messaging, design and creative, adding value across the delegate experience."
Key areas of focus for talks and workshops will be Islamic banking and finance, technology and exports. Speakers will include the likes of the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Najib Razak.
David Pegler, chief executive of Excel, said: "We are delighted that WIEF has chosen London and Excel as host for their forum, the first time it has been held outside Asia and at a non-Muslim country.
"I also look forward to welcoming Smyle back. We have a strong track record in hosting high-profile events where global decisions are discussed and made face to face by world leaders."
