Qatar House (or Bayt Qatar) will offer committee members, athletes and media the chance to experience Qatari hospitality and will showcase initiatives of several Qatari organisations that are working towards the country’s National Vision 2030. These include Al Jazeera Sport, Qatar Museums Authority, Doha Film Institute and Qatar Tourism Authority.
Guests will be able to experience local food, music, performances, art and culture. The house will also highlight the progress Qatar has made in relation to sports development, particularly among women.
HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, general secretary of the Qatar Olympic Committee, said: "The committee is delighted that Bayt Qatar at London 2012 will be hosted by the prestigious Institution of Engineering and Technology.
"Bayt Qatar is a testament to Qatar’s sporting passion, celebrating the Olympic Games with our athletes and taking visitors through a journey of the greatest moments of Qatari sport. It will also be a destination where Qatari trade, investment and tourism agencies can network and foster international business relationships."
