Royal Television Society rolls out community website

LONDON - The Royal Television Society has created a website to help young people learn more about TV, with a community based social network at its core.

Digital agency Stickee was tasked with developing the , which promotes RTS Futures -- an initiative to get young people involved in the television industry.

It will allow users to upload their own content, such as video and photographs, and take part in discussion groups, one-to-one messaging and blogs. Online screening rooms will allow budding filmmakers to share their work.

Stickee built a content management system for the site so that the RTS can control its content, and monitor members' activities.

RTS Futures will officially launch at the end of September, with Channel 4 chief executive, Andy Duncan at the helm, in his role as chair of the RTS Futures committee.

Simon Albury, chief executive at the Royal Television Society, said: "In a sector that is simultaneously expanding, consolidating and fragmenting, Stickee has helped the RTS provide unrivalled opportunities across digital platforms.

"This will help the RTS to increase opportunities to extend its work for learning with people at all levels across the television community."

The Prince of Wales is the RTS patron. Vice-presidents include Dawn Airey, Sir David Attenborough, Greg Dyke, Sir Trevor McDonald, Andy Duncan and Mark Thompson.
