The 'shop window' of the 200-strong business will receive a strong focus from Sutton, as he bolsters the senior management team.
"Events are the original part of the business, and the incubator for talent," explained Sutton. "It is a natural point in Rhubarb’s growth to reassess the management structure and put a renewed focus on the events part of the business."
Upcoming events for Rhubarb include the UEFA Champions League Final weekend at the end of May, during which the company will deliver 4,000 covers across six venues.
"As a business like this grows, the biggest challenge is to make sure we don’t lose the culture and focus on innovation," added Sutton.
"We are interested in growth, but the main focus of my role is to make sure the business is at the cutting edge, and continually assessing our client relationships and the events we do."
Sutton has more than 15 years of senior management-level experience in the hospitality industry, and most recently worked as commercial director at Lomax Bespoke Health.
Prior to that, he was deputy chief executive at the Roehampton Club for three years, and deputy general manager for Compass at the Royal Albert Hall for four years.
Sutton has also worked at the Arts Depot, Birmingham Hippodrome and Birmingham City Football Club.
