London venue Central Hall Westminster saw revenues increase by 30% between September and November 2013, compared to the same period in 2012.

The venue, which said the quarter was its best for more than five years, attributed the business growth to a successful 2013, which saw it host a number of high profile events.

They included technology conference Le Web, the Chinese International Film Festival, London Fashion Week, university graduations and Gary Barlow’s new year’s eve concert, which was broadcast live by the BBC.

Paul Southern, managing director at Central Hall Westminster, told Event the venue used to secure a lot of government business but has since been able to reach new markets.

"The technology sector is definitely a growing market for us. We have previously worked with the likes of Google and Sega, and will be hosting the UK's developer conference Dev Week this year, which takes place between 31 March and 4 April.

"Concerts are also becoming increasingly popular after the Gary Barlow gig, which we secured late in November 2013. With the venue being a methodist church, we were previously unable to sell alcohol at such events. Now alcoholic drinks can be pre-sold to concert audiences, which will make a difference and allows us to be more flexible."

He added Central Hall Westminster has forecasted a 30% growth in revenue for the 2013/14 financial period.

The venue will also be launching a new event space in March located in its basement. The 200-capacity event space will open following a £500,000 refurbishment.

On 20 February, Central Hall Westminster will be hosting its first event as part of its Meet The Future campaign, which has been launched to explore event technologies and encourage planners to take a proactive step in embracing emerging technology. It will include a roundtable discussion on wi-fi.
