The conference and events centre in central London was converted into a Parisian Hotel for one of the main scenes in the action-comedy film produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
The Great Hall Foyer, which is usually used as an events reception space and overlooks the Great Staircase, was filmed for a scene with a meeting of the head of the Russian secret service. The venue’s 2,000-capacity auditorium also featured as a backstage and wardrobe space.
In addition to RED’s cast of Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich, the sequel also features Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins.
This is not the first time Central Hall has featured on the big screen. In 2003, Calendar Girls - again featuring Helen Mirren - was filmed there, and a monthly music show called Balcony TV is also involved in a long-term project at the venue.
Maria Schuett, marketing manager at Central Hall Westminster, said: "The fact that Central Hall is getting more and more involved in quirky long-term projects shows the flexibility of this 100-year-old venue."
Following the UK premiere of RED2 on 22 July, the film will be in cinemas as of 2 August.
