
The offer is the latest recession-busting move by the notoriously lavish wedding industry and follows on from the sale of a 99p wedding dress on eBay.
The credit-crunch friendly deal will include a two-night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast. A spa hamper with sparkling wine, strawberries, chocolates and what the hotel brand describes as 'glamorous nightwear' is also included.
Gemma and Chris Brooks from Clapham are one of the first couples to express interest in taking up the deal. Married in June 2009, they had not yet taken a honeymoon due to costs and work pressures. ‘We spent around £15,000 on a beautiful wedding day for our friends and family, but it left us with no time or money to enjoy a break for ourselves,' said Gemma. 'We're looking forward to having a belated honeymoon.'
The average cost of a wedding has crept up to around £25,000 as consumers seek to ape the big-budget celebrity nuptuals lapped up by readers of magazines such as OK!, according to recent research. Unfortunately most consumers do not have the benefit of a six-figure magazine sum to ease the financial burden.
