The self-assured Jones did not follow the typical route into marketing and this is perhaps behind his phenomenal rise up the ranks. After developing glandular fever, he spent a year in hospital studying for his A-levels before he escaped to Marbella, where he set up a paparazzi company.
A stint at listings magazine What’s On In London followed before he made the leap into agency life at the now defunct Balance. After taking time out, Jones launched Giant Ventures, which worked with BlackBerry on the activation of the Ibiza Rocks music event. The handset manufacturer went on to create a role specifically tailored to him.
