The Ivy League-educated daughter of Forever 21’s Korean founders Don and Jin Sook Chang is set to make a big splash in the UK with the fast-fashion label. Having flown in from the latest store opening in Vienna, Chang is taking the London Oxford Street launch in her stride.
Her parents may have founded the brand, but she didn’t leapfrog straight into the top marketing slot at Forever 21. She cut her teeth at investment bank Merrill Lynch before going to furniture chain Pottery Barn, where she was a product planner. Forever 21 largely bypasses old media; blog content is updated daily and social media is at the heart of its marketing activity.
