Ipswich murder dramatisation Five Daughters gives BBC One 5.4m viewers

LONDON - The controversial dramatisation 'Five Daughters' drew 5.4 million viewers to its final episode on BBC One, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Based on the murders of several prostitutes in Ipswich in 2006, 'Five Daughters' took an audience share of 22.7%, double that of 'The Bill: Suffer in Silence' on ITV1, which had 2.6 million viewers and an 11% share.

The HD simulcast of 'Five Daughters' on BBC HD bolstered its ratings further, with 197,000 viewers, an 0.83% share.

BBC Two led Channel 4 and Five with the first episode of the 'The Story of Science', documenting society's fascination with understanding how the world works. It had 2.1 million viewers and a 9% share.

'Heston's Gothic Horror Feast' on Channel 4 experienced a drop in viewers from 2.4 million last week. The food alchemist's experiment with gory concoctions was watched by two million, an 8.4% share.

'CSI: Crime Investigation' on Five also had two million viewers.
