Play.com and The Sun get together for DVD giveaway

LONDON – Home entertainment website Play.com and The Sun are giving away classic movies on DVD in a deal thought to be the largest newspaper promotion of an online brand.

British gangster movies 'The Long Good Friday' and 'Mona Lisa' are being given away this week with Wim Wenders' cult classic 'Paris Texas'.

To claim their free DVD, Sun readers are directed to a special page on the Play.com site, where they will be asked to key in a password printed in the newspaper.

The deal has been developed by SP Partnerships, the promotions and partnership arm of SP Holdings.

Chris Reed, the managing director of SP Partnerships, said: "This is a fantastic example of how old and new brands can work together to target young consumers."
