In pictures: Old Spitalfields Market goes barking mad for Paw Pageant

East end venue Old Spitalfields Market welcomed almost 20,000 visitors on bank holiday Monday (26 August) who turned up to enjoy a doggie fashion show fundraising event.

The 2013 Paw Pageant was held in partnership with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and canine fashion business LoveMyDog, and saw more than 60 dogs entered into the competition.

Dog owners could enter their pets into one six award categories including dressed up to the (ca)nines, Jimmy Chews – the award for the naughtiest pooch – and paw-fection, also known as best in show.

Visitors were able to treat their fluffy friends to goodies from a specialist market including doggy fashions, accessories, pet care products, nutritional food and other dog-themed merchandise from the likes of Teddy and Lu, Sniffys and Beach Dog Bakery.

Staff from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home were also on site to provide free microchipping and dog tagging for all pet owners, and Love My Dog donated a hamper of products worth £500 in a raffle, with all proceeds going to the London-based animal charity. More than £1,000 was raised on the day through bucket collections.
