The event at the east London shopping space will include a specialist pooch market featuring dog-themed merchandise from the likes of Teddy and Lu, Sniffys and Beach Dog Bakery, and a ‘dogwalk’ revealing the latest canine fashions, to raise funds for Battersea Dog & Cats Home.
A purpose-built runway is being built for the event, which will showcase canine couture by designers such as Lilly Shahravesh of LoveMyDog, while each dog will be accompanied on stage by a human companion modelling collections by NW3, Mischa Barton, Albam, Jigsaw and Oliver Bonas.
In the afternoon the public will be given the chance to parade their pampered pets in the Paw Pageant awards.
Visitors can enter their own dogs into one of six categories, including Dressed up to the (Ca)nines, Jimmy Chews (the naughtiest dog), Six of the Best (best owner and dogs legs) and Paw-fection (best in show).
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will also be on site to provide free microchipping and dog tagging to all pet owners.
Nana Agyeman-Crawford, marketing manager at Old Spitalfields Market, told Event: "Spitalifields has changed and seen many developments over the years but it still holds a community spirit, so events like the paw pageant will have our local residents, stall holders and visiting public all getting involved in the showing off their dogs.
"The event gets everyone snapping pictures, sharing their doggie experiences and with no entry fee and no age restrictions anyone can join and all the proceeds go to support Battersea Dogs & Cats Home."
