In pictures: LateRooms' six-foot Christmas tree 'walks' around London

LateRooms.com is promoting its new Christmas party escape suit today (17 December) by enlisting a man to walk through the capital dressed in the wearable Christmas tree creation.

The six-foot high Fir tree, which is complete with battery-operated lights, will be visiting shopping centres and train stations throughout the day. 

The company devised the suit after research it compiled revealed that three quarters of British adults dread their office Christmas party, however 72% of people are too polite to leave such events. 

The suit aims to provide party-goers with the option to escape boring parties without being noticed by their colleagues. 

The campaign goes live on a day that, according to the research study of 2,000 people, is among one of the busiest nights in the UK for Christmas parties, along with 'Mad Friday' (18 December). 

The stunt has been devised by agency Taylor Herring, and the wearable tree is also being promoted on YouTube and social media.

James Herring, managing partner at Taylor Herring said; "Most of us are way too polite to leave a bad Christmas party. This piece of wearable tech has been designed to get party-goers out of that tedious game of charades and onto their next party as elegantly as possible."

Andrea Tarpey, head of communications and PR at LateRooms.com added: "Life’s too short for bad parties, which is why we invented the wearable Christmas tree. We are encouraging people to follow our lead by using our instructions to make their own party escape kit.

"Hopefully our wearable Christmas tree will allow a few people to escape and spend this year’s festive season somewhere they’d rather be."
