Four secret opera singers, disguised as canteen staff and a policeman, broke into song in a school canteen in front of children aged 7-11 years as they tucked into a linguine and pesto lunch.

The group of singers performed a medley of the Italian classics by Verdi, Rossini and Puccini.

Clare Blampied, managing director of Sacla' UK, said: "Sacla’ aims to bring home the spirit of Italy and inject Italian passion and flair into the everyday lives of people of all ages.

"We wanted to share the power of opera with children who have never seen or heard it before live and their reactions were incredible as our undercover opera singers gave them an Italian dining experience to remember.

"This comes at a time when we are launching our new food-service range, so it is a particularly special time of celebration."

The musical school lunch surprise is a follow up to the viral video ‘Shopera’, which has had nearly six million views on YouTube. This video was devised by Taylor Herring two years ago at the John Lewis Oxford Street Foodhall from Waitrose.
