The venue was transformed into a forest complete with four-foot high bay trees as table centres, as well as fresh flowers with trailing ivy over each of the tables provided by florist Hybrid Flowers.
Guests were welcomed onto the private mezzanine and were able to browse the Shakespearean exhibition while enjoying a range of canapés created by the venue’s in-house catering team from Swan at Shakespeare's Globe. This included Hardwick lamb cannon and butternut squash puree, Galloway beef wellington, truffled quail eggs and toffee apple tomatoes.
Following the reception, attendees were invited down into the main venue as Tristram Cooke and the Juniper Wind Trio performed Handel’s Largo.
Welcome speeches and personal stories preceded a menu of confit Perthshire chicken, sweet onion mash, charred leeks and truffle jus. This was followed by a cheese and dessert station that guests helped themselves to.
Other entertainment on the night included a live auction, a performance from burlesque act Vicky Butterfly and a bespoke Shakespearean performance from Fitzrovia.
Emily Holl, head of event sales at Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe, said: "This event was a huge success for both the charity and Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe, truly showcasing what inspirational and creative events can take place here.
"The venue is proud to work with so many worthy causes, and was privileged to host such a successful fundraising night."
Other suppliers to the event included Prangsta for staff costumes; Arc Sound which supplied AV; and entertainment specialists Sternberg Clarke.
