Palm Pixi lets users access information from Google, Facebook, Exchange ActiveSync, Yahoo! and LinkedIn in a single view.
Conversations on different networks with the same contact will be shown as one conversation thread, allowing users to begin conversations on AIM Instant Messenger, Google Talk or Yahoo! Messenger and continue it by text message later.
The Pixi also features a new Facebook app which lets users see and comment on new posts from friends, update their status, and integrate Facebook with the phone's address book, calendar and photo apps.
The slimmed down follow-up to the Pre uses Palm's webOS platform, and will be released on US network Sprint in time for Christmas. It has not given details of when the handset will become available in the UK.
Unlike the Pre, the Pixi doesn't have Wi-Fi, which means it can't be used to access the internet outside of Sprint's network.
Palm's decision to release the Pixi the day before Apple's hotly anticipated conference tomorrow has raised eyebrows in the mobile industry. Apple is expected to make a major product announcement at the conference which could steal the spotlight fromPalm.
