
The mobile network has signed deals with Universal Music, EMI and a number of independent labels to allow mobile and web customers to purchase music downloads.
The catalogue will launch with 700,000 tracks, which will be added to as more labels signup.
Customers will own the music they download, with the option to store it on PCs, mobiles, CDs and MP3 players. Downloaded music is automatically transferred to both mobiles and PCs, but customer will only be charged once.
Comes with Music, includes unlimited music downloads from the Nokia Music Store within the purchase price of the handset for a 12 or 18-month contract.
Orange's relaunched music offering contrasts with O2's service, which it launched in partnership with Sony BMG last year.
O2's MyPlay, which it claimed was the first ‘operator-supported major label music store' offered tracks from selected artists for 99p.
At launch the only participating artists were The Zutons, Usher, The Ting Tings and The Script, but Sony BMG said around three news artists would be added to the service each month.
