The new phone, code-named SPVx (which stands for sound, pictures and video), will be available from April and will include features such as a joystick for gaming and navigation, entertainment memory cards, a camera link cable to aid photo messaging and a soft keyboard.
It will allow users to access the internet normally, and not via WAP, which limits the number of sites available.
Richard Brennan, executive vice-president of OrangeWorld, said: "We are modifying the menu structures on the SPVx so that the more consumer-focused services, such as the internet, games, music applications, messaging services and Windows Media Player are the first programs customers can access."
Orange also announced new software that can be downloaded by existing SPV users to help them manage their pictures and sounds. Orange says that it has sold 40,000 of the first SPV unit, mainly to business customers who use the facility to link with PCs and collect email remotely.
