The Orange France Telecom Group said the acquisition will help it reach over 71 per cent of UK internet users, and 66 per cent of users across France, Spain and Poland. Unanimis acts as a sales house for websites run by AA, Ticketmaster, ASOS, Gumtree and Shopping.com and also sells mobile ad inventory.

Paul Francois Fournier, executive vice president of Orange Advertising said the deal will help Orange to increase revenues 9 to 20 per cent in new growth areas, including advertising.

"With the acquisition of Unanimis, Orange now has strong footholds in two of Europe's three main digital advertising markets - France and the UK - which provide outstanding opportunities to pan-European advertisers and agencies while enabling us to accelerate our plans for growth from the mobile and online environment," he said.

Unanimis will continue to operate under its brand name and will become part of the Orange Group Advertising Network, which aims to help advertisers reach new audiences across the PC, mobile and TV.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition comes just weeks after Orange announced it would cut 370 jobs in the UK in a bid to increase efficiency.
