New media powers MySpace model's bid for music stardom

LONDON - Tila Tequila, the model who found global fame on MySpace, is releasing her debut single as a digital-only track, backed by an Endemol-produced video made specifically for mobile phones.

The Vietnamese model, who has more than 1.6m friends on MySpace, has struck a deal to sell her single 'I Love U' exclusively through iTunes for two weeks until March 13, when it will be available on other download sites.

The record label releasing the single is Ingrooves, a digital label and distributor.

The 99 cent US download includes the music video as a free bonus during the two weeks. The video has been available for mobile phones since February 14 through selected operators including O2 in the UK.

It is the first music video produced by Endemol, the global production company behind TV phenomenon 'Big Brother'. Endemol is handling direct worldwide distribution of the video.

An Endemol spokesman said: "Tila's video is tailor made for the small screen and is the kind of rich content that takes mobile entertainment to the next level."

Tila is managed by Strategic Artist Management in Los Angeles and newly signed to United Talent Agency for all areas of representation.
