LONDON - Matt Bailey, head of affiliates at i-level, has been appointed chair of the IAB's (Internet Advertising Bureau) Affiliate Marketing Council on a promise of educating brands about the sector.

New IAB affiliate chair pledges to educate brands

Bailey was voted in at an IAB meeting and will replace the outgoing chair, Ben Wood, managing director of TradeDoubler.

He was elected on a promise of educating brands of the potential of affiliate marketing.

"My pitch to the council was to do three things," he said. "Promotion to the wider industry; education, because merchants (brands) have no idea what they're doing, and regulation."

Bailey said the affiliate council is currently looking at regulation of voucher codes but that other areas will also be reviewed.

The IAB's affiliate council was set up to establish best practice guidelines and standards for affiliate marketing in the UK and to increase its integrity as an effective online discipline.
