Digital Window works with companies such as The Hut Group, Clarks, Topman, Swarovski and Nike. Its three subsidiaries include Affiliate Window, one of the UK's biggest affiliate networks and Shop Window, a product comparison engine.

Kevin Brown, Digital Window chief executive will continue to manage the company. He said the partnership will have little impact on the day-to-day running of the business, but will help Digital Window to expand outside the UK.

Axel Springer and PubliGroupe already own Zanox, one of Europe's leading affiliate networks and this new acquisition further strengthens its position in the UK.

Mathias Döpfner, chief executive of Axel Springer said the focus of the investment is to expand the company's reach across Europe.
