
Google has not officially confirmed its plans, but according to reports it plans to launch a music service that would provide music previews, videos, news and other features when a user searches for any music artist.
The music-search feature, expected to be announced soon, could include artists from the four largest music labels. Google declined to comment.
Meanwhile, MySpace unveiled its own music plans at the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco. It is launching a wave of new products worldwide under the MySpace Music Videos banner, providing new tools for artists and consumers including the MySpace Artist Dashboard, an analytics tool for artists. The tool provides artists with information on who is consuming their music on the site.
MySpace Music users will also be able to purchase and download music on iTunes in addition to Amazon MP3, and MP3 ringtones via Jamster.
Separately, Google announced plans to begin integrating Twitter messages into its new search engine. Microsoft began doing so yesterday (21 October).
Google said its goal is to create "the most comprehensive, relevant and fast search in the world".
