aims to disrupt the traditional way people discover and interact with radio, by allowing anyone to upload a radio show, with its visibility dependent on its popularity among listeners.

The site also has Twitter-like social features where users can choose to follow other users with similar tastes.

The site boasts over 1000 content partners and presenters, including Diesel Radio, former BBC Radio 1 presenter Chris Coco, record label Border Community and music blog Curb Crawlers.

The shows on the site currently lean towards club music and DJs, however work is underway to expand the breadth of content to appeal to a wider audience.

The site was released in private beta in March this year, and is currently funded by a grant from the Technology Strategy Board. It's not yet clear if Mixcloud will look to ad revenue or subscriptions to make money.
