Sky News political editor Adam Boulton interviewed Miliband first in Second Life at 18.30 (UK time) yesterday from Sky's virtual newsroom. The interview was then broadcast on Sky News TV at 20.30. Second Life residents could attend the interview on Sky News' island (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sky%20News or Sky News 171, 92, 21) where they viewed avatars of Boulton and Miliband. A live audio feed of the interview was streamed to the Second Life audience.
Miliband discussed climate change issues and the Government's launch of its new online carbon calculator. The Act on CO2 Calculator was launched yesterday, enabling people to assess their carbon footprint using Government-recognised data. The tool, created by Euro RSCG's digital agency 4D Digital, is part of the government's attempts to cut carbon emissions among UK households.
Miliband said: "This calculator is a real innovation, using up-to-date, authoritative data and recognised calculation methods. As the calculator improves and develops, I want it to become the gold standard for calculating CO2 emissions for families and individuals, both here in the real world and in Second Life."
