It is introducing a live feed to its web site, which will broadcast behind-the-scenes footage from the Sky news centre.
A camera in the newsroom's upper gallery will record studio activity. Viewers can watch the action via a webcam on sky.com/news.
The move hopes to build on Sky's 'transparent' news studio introduced in October 2005, to make the production of 24-hour rolling news a more interactive process.
As well as watching presenters, viewers will be able to see the production team, including cameramen, technicians and producers, at work.
Sky News online associate editor, Simon Bucks, said: "One of the aims of the new-look site is to create a dynamic, engaging user experience. With the newsroom webcam, you'll now be able to see what goes on both in front of and behind the cameras."
The webcam addition is part of the first phase to redevelop Sky News Online. The site seeks to improve its design and usability, and bring its reputation for breaking television news to the web.
Steve Bennedik, editor of Sky News Networked Media, said: "We are offering greater flexibility, but in a cleaner and uncluttered way. During the year, content and functionality will evolve as new online features are regularly introduced."
