
The 'Priceless Picks' app shows a combination of user-recommended stores, restaurants and shopping deals in pop-up bubbles on an interactive map. It also integrates sponsored listings placed by brands and store owners.
The app uses GPS and 3D maps to show points of interest in users' immediate vicinity.
Filter options allow users to view the category most relevant to what they are looking for, and encourages them to share the deal with a friend or flag as inappropriate. However the app does not list merchant contact details, website links or ratings and comments services.
MasterCard hopes the app will encourage community engagement and become an exhaustive database for tourists and locals alike.
Eariler this year MasterCard released its first corporate app, ATM Hunter, which also utilised maps and GPS to help users locate their nearest ATM.
