The activity aims to promote the Blu-ray and DVD release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, celebrate the creative legacy Star Wars has in Britain, and raise funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
The campaign invites those who feature in Star Wars films, as well as other British celebrities, Star Wars fans and artists from across the globe to create an artwork inspired by the film's BB-8 character.
The creations are designed to highlight all that is great about the UK, by focusing in on a particular area of British culture, such as music, food, sport, art, tourism and technology.
Famous participants include Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Warwick Davis, all of Star Wars fame, along with Simon Pegg, Paddy McGuinness, British band Years and Years and Olympian Nicola Adams.
Creatives from throughout the UK, such as graffiti artists, jewellers, ceramic artists, typography specialists, embroiderers and sculptors are also taking part.
A select number of creations will feature in a public exhibition at London’s Mortimer Street Gallery. These will be auctioned off from 18-20 April, with all funds raised to be donated to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
