The move sees Langdon rejoining his former boss at McCann-Erickson, Jim Heekin. Heekin joined Euro RSCG in October last year as chief operating officer having been ousted from the position of chairman and CEO at McCann-Erickson following an accounting scandal at the agency. He has since been named as the chief executive to replace Bob Schmetterer, who is retiring.
It also means that Langdon is joining the agency that his start-up partner Mark Wnek quit last year. Havas slapped a ban on Wnek using his surname in the title of a new agency but within weeks had dumped the moniker Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper to become Euro RSCG London.
At the time that Ben Mark Orlando was unveiled, Langdon told 北京赛车pk10 magazine: "We've had a great time working for some brilliant large agencies, but we set up this agency precisely because we share a belief that clients get better advertising if they get direct access to the right people."
But his tune has now changed. In a statement issued by Euro RSCG today, he said: "I am thrilled to be working with Jim again, and for the opportunity to help Euro RSCG's UK group build its business. The wonderful thing about this organisation is the existence of truly first-class talent in the ad agency and the 13 other UK businesses such as EHS Brann and Euro RSCG KLP."
He is to work alongside Chris Pinnington, who is chief executive of Euro RSCG Worldwide UK, and takes up his role at the agency immediately.
Langdon is one of the more colourful figures on the London advertising scene and is reported to have quit McCann-Erickson after senior managers refused his request to have his name above the door.
He is described as having an acerbic style but it is hard to argue with his success -- McCann-Erickson moved from being the 14th biggest advertising agency to the second during the six years that he led it.
Ben Mark Orlando also appeared to be off to a good start, winning a place on the Bacardi roster to work on two new product launches -- beating Langdon's old agency McCann-Erickson in a pitch. The agency's future is now uncertain.
Shortly after joining Euro RSCG, Heekin recruited his former McCann-Erickson colleague Mark Lepere to join him as chief marketing officer at the network.
