John Lewis reacts to House of Fraser sale with tactical email campaign

John Lewis has sent out an email campaign with the message: ‘We are responding to a competitor's event and have lowered prices on certain products until Saturday.'

The move follows House of Fraser's press campaign which launched a sale of up to 25% off products between Wednesday and Saturday. The retailer is also promoting a 4 for 3 deal on ‘favourite home brands' including the Linea range.

In response, John Lewis is driving people to its website to browse for products and details of savings.

The high street giant, whose motto has been ‘never knowingly undersold' for over 80 years, is currently running a trial under which it will only match prices of all of its competitors within an eight mile radius of its stores. It will continue to beat all national chains on price.
