House of Fraser has stopped using Royal Mail for its standard delivery service and a message on its website says: ‘Tired of postal strikes? Shop with us.'
The retailer has upgraded the delivery service to DHL's 48-hour service, which will make deliveries faster and also trackable for consumers.
In addition, if customers spend £50 or more online they will have the option of free standard delivery within three working days. If they need the order they can opt for next day or named day delivery which is free to the UK mainland if they spend more than £125.
Amazon was the first retailer to react to possible strike action last week and it claims to have put in place contingency plans to cope with any Royal Mail strikes.
Ebay is set to be heavily affected by the postal strike with its sellers heavily relying on Royal Mail's rates to send items to buyers. Last week it decided to remove the option for buyers to rate sellers on the time taken to dispatch an item from the site.
John Lewis and Marks & Spencer said that it would be unaffected by strike action with both using a number of carriers to deliver goods and contingency plans in place.
