Experian has a five-year contract with the firm, also providing it with credit reference information.
JD Williams chose Experian's behavioural decision analytics software following a comprehensive tender process. Probe SM works by combining data management, behavioural scoring and sophisticated segmentation and analytics, giving users insight into customer behaviour.
Graham Price, JD Williams' head of risk, said: "In order to grow the average profit per customer, we needed to get a better understanding of each customer on a continual basis. This has been achieved through improvements across all areas of the business, with a particular focus on credit limit management, the authorisation process, collection and the additional cross-sale of other products."
Steve Kilmister, managing director of Experian's consumer business, said: "The effective management of its customers is key to JD Williams' ongoing growth and we are very pleased to play a part in its success story. The new contract brings a number of data sources and solutions together to help JD Williams make the most of its cross-sell activity, enabling it to provide new offerings and meet its customers' needs."
