Since then comments have been pouring in on Event's website, wishing Red Snapper managing director Damian Clarkson and his team all the best.
Soon after the news broke, ISES VP of communications Mike Fletcher posted a comment informing Event readers Clarkson has decided to step down from his role as VP of education for the association.
"He has rightly decided that he is not currently in a position to fulfil his responsibilities to ISES members," said Fletcher.
"Damian is a fantastic asset to the event industry and I know that he is personally doing everything in his power to ensure that creditors of Red Snapper Events are looked after," he added. "The entire ISES Board wishes him well for the future."
Ian Irving, commercial director for experiential agency Sledge commented: "This is such a shame, it's a huge loss to the industry. Damian is a fantastic guy. I do not doubt for one minute that we will see him rise from this and I offer him my utmost support.
"This also begs the question why should this happen to the good guys when there are so many sharks in our industry?"
David Wolanski, managing director of catering firm The Recipe echoed these sentiments.
"I agree with Ian that it is a real shame that good guys, who work hard to get where they are, are getting forced out of business. Does one really have to sell cheap, bought-in, sub-standard food served by shoddy staff who don't speak English to succeed?
"Unfortunately I fear there will be more caterers going the same way as Red Snapper."
Some concerns, however, were raised that the move could be an attempt to phoenix.
