I'm a Celebrity... hits reality TV peak with 12m viewers

LONDON - ITV has seen audiences of 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' pass the 12m mark, prompting it to reveal details of a fourth series to run in November.

The audience for last night's Sunday evening show, which saw Lord Brokett evicted, climbed to a peak of 12.1m and averaged 11.2m, making it the most successful series of the D-list celebrity show to date.

ITV executives will be hoping that tonight's one-and-half-hour episode, which will see the final three contestants ex-Atomic Kitten Kerry McFadden, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond and former pop star Peter Andre fight it out, beats last year's final.

McFadden is now the bookies' favourite to win the crown. In 2003 former England cricketer Phil Tufnell was crowned king of the jungle, watched by 12.3m.

ITV is rushing a fourth series into production and plans to use the same jungle camp.

A spokesman for ITV said: "We are absolutely staggered by the success of this series. The first two series were great but everything seems to have galled now."

He added: "It's becoming the greatest reality show on TV. We're sure we can maintain the same level of entertainment for viewers in the future."

Part of the reason the third series has become so successful is the presence of tabloid favourite Jordan and former Sex Pistols singer John Lydon.

Jordan was sensationally dumped by viewers on Saturday after she had flirted for over a week with Andre. On exiting the jungle Jordan has now professed her affection for the singer.

The 25-year-old model is reported to have dumped her boyfriend Scott Sullivan and is waiting to see Andre when he comes out tonight.

She told ITV2 presenters Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Mark Durden-Smith she can not wait to see Andre.

"I had a boyfriend. Over. Gone. Don't want to know. I just said to him: 'I don't want to speak any more.' He said 'Is it over?' and I said 'Basically yes'."

Asked about her and Andre, she said: "You have to wait and see. That will be telling. I always have something up my sleeve. I made out to him I had a boyfriend because I didn't know he was serious. I've been watching so now I know he is. I hope he got the message."
