The main experiment involves an app for T-Mobile's G1 that will provide information through augmented reality. When a user points the camera phone at a tennis court, they will see stats related to the current and next match on court.

When they point it at food courts they'll get information on what's on sale and will also work across video. The service is possible through using GPS coordinates that trigger displays depending on what the user is looking at.

The 'Seer Aggregator' will also let fans receive real-time Twitter feeds relevant to Wimbledon with players, commentators and a team from IBM all signed up to add content to the service.

The app has been developed by IBM and OgilvyOne London and will be available from 22 June. It's part of IBM's long-standing status as the technology supplier for Wimbledon. The relationship has been running since 1990 and also includes an updated Wimbledon.org website for this year's tournament.

IBM claims that Wimbledon.org attracted 10 million visitors during last year's tournament.
